Sequence 1

Sequence 1: Rabe

Why does Pastor Rabe say 1989 was such an important time for the people and the church in East Germany? What was happening during that time that he says is “no longer the situation today”? What does he say is better today. What analogy does he make for the church today? What does he say is the church’s primary challenge today? Do you think that challenge is any different for churches anywhere else in the world? What does Pastor Rabe say about his congregation today? What does he say about religion and faith the way it existed during the GDR? Do you think a church can survive, and perhaps even flourish, after 40 years of effectively being banned?
